Time to Awaken Your Senses—It’s Springtime!

Happiness comes from awakening your senses. What better time to spark a personal awakening than right now! It’s springtime, the season of new beginnings. Happiness is not something you find, but rather something you create. Pleasure and reward do not always show up in your life how you might expect it. Living a rich life means you are willing to experiment a little as you go, developing awareness, agility, and an attitude that is open to outcome. Here are a few tips to help you to awaken your senses this season:

  • Springtime is a perfect time to get away: The best way to self-reflect is to change the scene. Changing your surroundings refreshes your senses and vitalizes your mind. A physical change of perspective often creates a space in your mind for new ways of seeing things.
  • With the coming of warmer weather and longer days, vary your routine: Habits become mindless. To refresh your mind, break your habits.
  • Spring-cleaning allows you to set your own stage: Embellish your surroundings echoing your values and with esthetics that soothe your senses and ignite your passions.
  • Awaken you mind and approach learning as experimentation: Experience learning as personal transformation. It is impossible to “gather” information and call it “learning.” As learning occurs, you become a different person. You are never the same.

Skills to Amplify Your Natural Appeal

The French concept, known as belle laide, refers to a less attractive woman becoming appealing and even alluring through her personal presentation, social skills and style.

The theory behind belle laide is based on the notion that natural attraction or what we call “sex appeal” requires some level of physical beauty, talent, and ability, but can also be learnt. Training and development can take you far beyond what nature gifted you.

Emerging socio-economic research, by Professor of Sociology & Economic, Catherine Hikam, London School of Economics http://personal.lse.ac.uk/hakimc/, has developed the theory of “Erotic Capital,” to describe a multi-faceted asset that is on the rise in contemporary society.

The thesis is that erotic capital is on the rise and is gaining social and economic importance, giving women an advantage, and is a key factor in women’s changing status in society and the economy.

The skills necessary to build your erotic capital are not new. Throughout history and in all societies, women have exploited their erotic capital for upward social mobility through the marriage market instead of the labor market.

Characteristics for building your erotic capital include:

  • Intellectual vitality and grasp of current world events
  • Energetic, physical fitness and graceful movement
  • Exceptional personal grooming
  • Engaging sense of humor and wit
  • Liveliness and attraction to adventure
  • Warmth, sensitivity and genuine human empathy

Travel to “Top 10 Modern-Day Gardens of Eden”

Imagine the colors, scents and mystery of nature re-ordered and designed by the wit and hand of mankind. Gardens are the nearest impression of paradise and are havens of peaceful tranquility!

Within “The Garden of Eden”, one can imagine existing within this paradise of plump fruits, crisp vegetables, pristine greens, vibrant grasses, bountiful grains and exotically fragrant flowers of all species.

This biblical paradise of beauty in which God places man and woman to live harmoniously with nature surely cannot be compared to our more manicured modern day worldly gardens. Throughout history, gardens have been an integral part of human life.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, near present-day Al Hillah (Babil) in Iraq, are considered to be one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

They are often referred to as The Hanging Gardens of Semiramis, who for the ancient Greeks was the legendary Assyrian Queen of Babylon. She was not only revered for her natural beauty, but for her exquisite flower gardens.

King Nebuchadnezzar II built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon around 600BC. It is reported that he constructed the gardens to please his homesick wife, who longed for the trees and fragrant plants of her homeland Persia.

To this day, there is some controversy as to whether the Hanging Gardens were an actual physical creation or a poetic creation due to the lack of documentation of them in the chronicles of Babylonian history. However there are many written accounts of them found in the ancient writings by Greek historians.

Favorite “Spring Chicken” Recipe

Christopher Greenwald, Amorosa Bella’s premier “Sensual Chef!” shares a simple and versatile grilled chicken recipe to welcome the springtime season!

Grilled Chicken with Flowering Thyme, Mustard and Ginger

This simple recipe is perfect either as a beautiful Spring dinner served with steamed California rice and baby asparagus or chilled, chopped up and thrown into a picnic basket as part of an outdoor lunch spread.

3 Tablespoons flowering thyme
2 Tablespoons hot Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
1 Tablespoon fresh garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup beer
1 lime (juice only)
¼ cup olive oil
2 Tablespoons kosher salt
1 4 lb. chicken (back bone removed and butterflied)

Mix first 9 ingredients together well. Slather marinade all over chicken and let sit refrigerated over night. Light a mesquite grill and when coals are ready, cook chicken over hot mesquite. Finish in 400-degree oven if desired until juices run clear. Let chicken rest, slightly covered, in a warm place for at least 10 minutes before carving.
